Color:  Light red.
Pattern:  Straight grain; wavy; curly and mottled grain.
Characteristics:  Soft.
Uses:  Cigar boxes; lead pencils; boat building and pattern work; furniture; doors. Most widely used timber in Tropical America.
Availability:  Limited as veneer (quarter-sliced, half-round); readily available as lumber.
