STEAMED CHERRY
Source:  Appalachian mountains from Pennsylvania to West Virginia. CHERRY photo (Flat Sliced - Gummy)
Color:  100% reddish-brown, heart is steamed into sapwood.
Pattern:  Straight-grained; satiny; some figured. Small gum pockets are normal markings.
Characteristics:  Light; strong; rather hard; fine-grained.
Uses:  Fine furniture; woodwork and engravers blocks.
Availability:  Readily available as veneer; readily available as lumber.
